The second-hand marketplace Members Express Frustration Over Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Changes
Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
Frankie Bridger, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
